I made home visits with Dr. Mario Cipolla, and was greatly impressed that he had stayed with his patients through the continual danger, the bombing, and the German demolition (scorched-earth policy). I did what little I could to help. He and the civilian guerilla fighters, the Patrioti, were the unsung heroes of this part of the war.
